MMX ENGINE BREAK IN PROCEDURE FOR FORGED/STROKER ENGINES
***IF ENGINE IS EQUIPPED WITH AN OIL COOLER THAT HAS EXPERIENCED A PRIOR ENGINE FAILURE IT MUST REPLACED BEFORE CONNECTING THE COOLER LINES TO THE NEW ENGINE!***
*** IF ENGINE EXPERIENCED A FAILURE, ROCKER ARMS, OIL PUMP, TIMING GEARS, AND LIFTERS MUST BE REPLACED***
Use shell Rotella T4 15w-40 Non-Synthetic Diesel oil for break in. DO NOT USE A SYNTHETIC OR FACTORY OIL FOR BREAK IN. Initially fire the engine after receiving startup tune from the tuner. Verify oil pressure on the dash before continuing to run the engine. Once oil pressure is verified, allow the engine to come up to temp (allow thermostat to open), check for leaks, and shut the engine off. Allow the engine to cool off, and then begin dyno or street Wide open throttle pulls (ONLY AFTER YOUR TUNER GIVES YOU THE OK FOR WOT). Wide open throttle loading is the best way to seat in new rings. Once dyno pulls are complete, and a short street drive is complete, remove the oil filter and cut open. If the filter is clean and no metal is present, spin on a new oil filter and put 2-300 miles of street
driving on the Rotella break in oil. Once this is complete, drain the oil, remove the filter, and switch over to the MMX Recommended Synthetic oil for your engine. If there are questions on the cleanliness of the oil filter, please send photos of the filter and filter element to byron@modernmuscleperformance.com.FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE PROCEDURES WILL RESULT IN CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE
**DO NOT USE FACTORY 0W-40 OR 5W-20 OIL IN THIS ENGINE**
MMX RECOMMENDED OIL FOR THIS ENGINE: ROYAL PURPLE HPS 10w-40
